Lynching och folkfest
Seventy years ago a lynch mob was waiting for 16 year old James Cameron after taking the law in their own hands. Cameron's two friends had just a few minutes earlier been beaten severely and hanged from a tree outside the prison in Marion, Indiana. Now 86 year old Cameron tells about his terrifying day. Thousands of Americans, mostly African-Americans were lynched during the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century. Brutal murders, often with large crowds watching. Lynching still occur. As late as in the 1990's an African-American was lynched in Jasper, Texas, by three Ku Klux Klan sympathisers. In this documentary, the story of the dark American past is told. The history of lynching has been silenced both by White and by African-Americans and can not be found in schoolbooks.
