Looking for Busi
By age 16, Busi, a young girl from Soweto, had already experienced more problems than many adults in an entire lifetime. She was a mother at 15. Today she is HIV-positive and abandoned by her family. She owes her survival to those who helped her. All Busi asks for is attention and love, which on several occasions has exposed her to life-threatening situations. This film covers a year in the chaotic life of Busi, as she fights to survive in the streets of Soweto. Using a cinema-verité approach, this film questions the usefulness of compassion when dealing with an apparently hopeless situation. A voyage to the end of despair that shows how love is more than ever necessary at a time when the Aids epidemic is at its height.
