Le Pays où vivait la terre
A village lost in a protected region of Romania, Maramures. People are preparing to celebrate Christmas as they always have: “traditionally.” A family, the Filips, dream of a European community, mechanized farming and modern living. A man, Nicolae, whom the villagers call mad, may be the wisest person there. This is a world caught between two eras where the elderly are already treated like ghosts, where there are worse things than dying, where time still holds it breath…
