La Rage et le rêve des condamnés
In the 60s, Jimmy Boyle was the most wanted criminal in Scotland. Sentenced to life imprisonment, he became the most dangerous of inmates. He responded to the brutality of the prison system with his own violence and incited revolts. Then came the infernal cycle of riots-repression that threatened the equilibrium of the entire penal system. To put an end to it, functionaries decided to create an experimental prison. Jimmy Boyle would be part of the first recruits for this unique penal experiment. He discovered sculpture and became a new man. After spending 26 years behind bars, he was released on parole. This film analyzes this past incident in the light of the current conditions of French prisons. In today’s conception of prison, does an inmate really have the means of making himself over? This is the basic question the film raises.
