La Femme qui danseMarie-Claude Pietragalla, a Star Beyond the Stage
Between shadows and light, fire and ice, Marie-Claude Pietragalla loves to blend opposites; moving gracefully from rehearsal room to television studio, she has managed to change the image of the prima ballerina. She admits to being prey to healthy self-doubt, constantly reconsidering how she lives and what she does. An artist in search of the absolute, after 19 years with the Paris Opera Ballet—eight of them as prima ballerina—she recently came down from the heights to run the Marseille's dance school and National Ballet. We follow her as she prepares her dance piece centered on the theme of confinement and Camille Claudel: "Sakountala". A look at her daily work as choregrapher and an evocation of her outstanding career.
