L'Ami américain, l'Amérique contre de GaulleThe American Friend, Secret History 1962-1969
Since 1995, the United States of America have given access to classified information that has been kept secret for the past 25 years. Information from the State Department, the Pentagon, the CIA, the Atomic Energy Commission and personal documents belonging to various Presidents as well as important politicians. These documents, that have been accessed by Vincent Jauvert, journalist for French weekly "Nouvel Observateur", shed a new light on the bitter struggle that opposes the US administration and General De Gaulle. These documents have been compared, on the French side, with archives from the Quai d'Orsay -the French Foreign Ministry -, from the depth of the Second Bureau and with army archives on French nuclear testing. Our film offers a vivid and accurate account of a dozen or more episodes and incidents and some famous, some hitherto unknown of Americans ten-year long battle against De Gaulle. Preference is given to archives most recently discovered.
