King of Communism: the Pomp & Page Antry of Nicolae Ceausescu

In King of Communism, director Ben Lewis unravels the story of one of the strangest regimes Europe had ever seen. Romania's Communist leader Nicolae Ceaucescu created a unique personnality cult in the 1970s and 1980s.This is a film about the absurd dictatorship of Nicolae Ceaucescu, about his love for public spectacle, and about how he turned a whole country into a stage-show. This is a real-life Communist version of "Springtime for Hitler" and "Life is beautiful". This is an all-singing, all-dancing musical about the illusions of Communism. Using Ceaucescu's own archive of 35 mm propaganda films, this documentary is also a serious study of the effects and legacy of this century's most destructive political system.
