Janine Charrat, l'instinct de la danseJanine Charrat, the Instinct to Danse
"Antigone" is the name that best suits Janine Charrat. She fought with fate like no other. Her debut was the stuff of dreams, life smiled at her. For Paul Valery, the young prodigy was the reincarnation of his "Atictee" in "L'Âme de la danse." She charmed Paul Claudel who wrote "La Femme et son ombre" for her as well as Roland Petit with whom she created several dance pieces. Dancer and avant-garde choreographer, she was part of the creative advance of contemporary dance and worked with the greatest artists: Darius Milhaud, Léonore Fini, Paul Delvaux and Fernand Léger. She was at the height of her art when she had the tragic accident that could have ended her career. But Jean Cocteau said of her: "Janine Charrat, solitary stroller, go beyond the stars." He sensed that nothing could get the better of her passion. This film is a portrait of a great choreographer and a woman of today whose innovative passion and faith in her art have come down through the century.
