Hajj - The Journey of a Lifetime
This documentary follows three British Muslims as they make their pilgrimage to Mecca. The pilgrinage is a once-in-a lifetime experience for around 2.5 million Muslims a year. This film explores the significance of this journey -spiritual, emotional, physical- through the eyes of the people that undertake it. They include a Harley Street neurologist and convertee, a policeman from Scotland Yard's positive Action Team and his young son, and a 22 year old female university student. The practicalities of organising an event on this scale become apparent as we see the two million plus Hajjis performing the required rituals. Just as evident is the huge impact that the pilgrimage has had on our characters as they reflect upon the significance this event has taken for them individually.
