Gaza, les enfants du retour
In 1994, following the Oslo Accords, Israel granted autonomy to the Gaza Strip, a territory 25 miles long and six miles wide, This is the home of more than a million Palestinians, 800,000 of them refugees. After the unrest of the Intifada, this territory was to become the home of the new Palestinian State, promised for May 1999. Motivated by this hope of peace, Palestinian refugees and emigrés the world over returned to their homeland to build their nation. Among them were Palestinian families from the Maghreb whose children had never set foot in Palestine. Five years on, what has happened to these “children of the return”? Our documentary describes this French-speaking young generation, which enjoyed relative freedom in North Africa. In particular, we follow three people from the moment of their arrival, their living conditions in Gaza and their disappointment as a result of the non-respect of the peace process.
