The idea for this film and the need to make it stem from a personal experience. I learned that there was such a thing as home helpers when my mother, who was very old and lived alone, could no longer deal with the basic everyday activities. So we contacted a home companion service. One aspect of this particular agency was that all its members were of African origin. So what struck me at first as being a social service and community job, new but commonplace, turned out be be a neighborly bond between indivividuals gradually learning to know one another. This film also relates the birth of a friendship between two people from entirely different worlds.
