Femi Kuti, What's Going On ?

This film draws up the portrait of the musician Femi Kuti and the Afro-beat sound. Femi is the son of Fela Kuti, "the black president", the creator of this musical style in the 1970's. One after the other, they have defined African urban protest music, contemporary with Reggae and Hip hop. Afro-beat is the sound of Nigeria, one of Africa's biggest countries in area, population and most specifically due to Lagos, its economical capital, a mad megalopolis where poverty, wealth and corruption clash. Hip hop, Reggae, Afro-beat, three sounds which share the same violence, which convey the same frustration. "What's going on?"
