During the spring of 1998, a group of young dropouts in Santiago underwent a strange experience: they attended a circus school. There, it is claimed, these children can be removed from the perils inherent in their social condition, such as drugs and delinquency. But things don’t always go as planned; some of the youths follow a road they could have avoided. “El Circo del Mundo” was born in 1995, with the collaboration of the “Cirque du Soleil” and “Jeunesse du Monde” (Canada). The main objective of this NGO is to promote the protection of children and problem young people, using the circus arts as a social and educational tool.
