Dziewczyna z plakatuThe Girl in the Poster
The director picked up the trail of a legendary woman, Magdalena Figure, who 50 years earlier had embodied the ideal woman worker on socialist posters of the time. In 1947, this young country girl with a fondness for farm tractors became a symbol of the social transformations of the young Communist regime. In the 1950s, the strong, beautiful heroine took part in the liquidation of fallow lands, advocated and organized by the State. The photo of Magdalena at the wheel of her tractor was turned into a publicity poster and hung on the walls of every governmental office. Her passion was turned into a social struggle for a better future. The regime and its ideology are now history and their "star" has faded. The tractor of the famous Magdalena Figur remains her only passion and her only reason for living.
