Die Manns - Ein Jahrhundertroman

The Manns - Novel of a Century

Inspired by Thomas Mann's novel "The Buddenbrooks", the mini-series will unveil the moving story of the Mann dynasty. We are drawn into this saga through the use of historical footage, interviews of Mann's family members and friends and fictionalized reconstruction of the events that stamped this family. It is a story of love and hate, of togetherness and separation, of the will to survive and the longing for death. No other German family has written about, lived in and shaped the passing century to such an extent as this family of merchants and writers from Lübeck. With Thomas Mann's youngest daughter Elisabeth, we follow the Mann's odyssey, from Lübeck, Munich and Berlin, to the Côte d'Azur and the United States.
