Jester, King and Killer. The King of Provence

Proud and majestic, the male grass snake of Montpellier scans his territory above the tall grass of the Mediterranean hills. The King of Provence is the largest snake in Europe and has plenty of character. For 50 minutes, this male snake is our close quarters protagonist: a "gentleman," he hunts his prey and offers it to his female; "combatant," he confronts a mightier adversary in a show of force. Beaten, he abandons his territory and the female. The mountain river might have been fatal to him but the human world is just as hazardous for this snake, whether he is on the farm or crossing roads.
