Clairvivre, enquête sur une utopie
Clairevivre is a small community 30 miles south of Limoges. Build between 1930 and 1933 by Albert Delsuc, leader of a war veteran’s organization, Doctor Hazemann and the architect Forestier, it is probably the only European example of the ideal city in the 20th century. The filmmakers went to Clairevivre where 1000 people still live today. On their first visit, they came across twenty 35mm reels of rushes shot by Eliane Tayar, a young director who worked with Carl Th. Dreyer and made a film on the beginnings of Clairevivre in 1934. This documentary looks at how Clairvivre functioned from the 30s to the present day. The infighting among the pioneers seems essential to an understanding of utopian systems.
