Vodka
Vodka in Russia is a matter of life and death. Vodka is also what makes Russians the warm, temperamental, monstrous, glorious, unfocused, spirited, messy, big hearted and garrulous folk they are. Vodka is an exploration of the spirit of Russia. Structured on the traditional Russian fairytale of the Golden Fish, the film carries the viewer through the dreams, promises and betrayal that is a bottle of vodka. Incorporating a cocktail of feature films, archive documentary and advertisements, Vodka travels from the drunken binge that is a peasant wedding, via the pilgrims to the Icon of the Bottomless Cup, to the heart of government and the newly elected Russian Parliament.
