Vaslav NijinskiA Soul in Exile
A dancer and choreographer of genius, Vaslav Nijinksi is today regarded as one of the fathers of western modern dance. His artistic legacy continues to inspire dancers, choreographers and scholars. How and why did Diaghilev - his lover, Pygmalion and impresario - who originally encouraged the maturing of his extraordinary gifts, end up by abandoning him to the psychological tragedy that resulted from his schizophrenia ? What was the role played by Romola de Pulzki, the dancer's young "groupie", a product of Hungarian high society, who succeeded in marrying Nijinski and separating him from Diaghilev ? She kept him isolated for three decades. What did Nijinski, the man and the artist, wish to leave to humanity, in his search for human, spiritual and religious love, before sinking into madness ?
