The Track
A six-part documentary series. A social history of horse racing in Australia. The story of good breeding and bad behaviour. No other enterprise captures the social, cultural and political life of Australia like horse racing - the love of the theatre that is gambling, the fascination with the possibility that lives can change overnight, the importance of heroes in our lives, and the role of the horse in the country’s development. The Track explores the characters of Australian horse racing, the social strata and those who made their ways inside the barriers : battlers, aboriginal jockeys and women. It reminds us that horse racing is much more than just a national sport - it is a cherished part of Australian culture.
