The Bookfair Murders
Best friends since they were schoolgirls, successful New York publisher Marsha Hillier and struggling Halifax freelance journalist Judith Cass have agreed to rendez-vous at the most prestigious international trade fair in the publishing world, the Frankfurt Book Fair. On their first evening there, they attend the splashy gala party only to witness the sudden death of an acquaintance of Marsha's, the author of what will become the hottest manuscript at the fair. His unpublished book is rumoured to implicate a prominent German family in acquiring art confiscated by the Nazis during World War II. When it is revealed that the author was murdered, the rumours and gossip ignite a bidding war for book, managed deftly by the slain author's agent Martin Barrett. Marsha and Judith set out to uncover the real motive behind the murder. Along the way, Judith develops a romantic liaison with a German police inspector, and Marsha narrowly escapes murder herself. The Bookfair Murders is a perfect blend of glamour, comedic satire and classic murder mystery.
