Samouraï, portrait de José TomasSamurai, Portrait of José Tomas
José Tomas is a bullfighter. Power emanates from his slender frame. He is a living "statue" - in the bullring he moves in such a way that the bull's horn just grazes him; a slight shift of his body and he is again face to face with the "toro"... Everything about this man makes for an "unexpected figure". He stands outside the norms and common practices of the "Figura". A "torero-samurai". But like any great bullfighter, he pursues an esthetic quest and a philosophy. All around him, people express their admiration for this quest. From his grandfather to the famous Joselito, all speak of their fascination for the art of José Tomas.
