Rebel Music

Bob Marley's powerful music and personality brought the uniqueness of Jamaican culture to the international stage. This is a portrait of the life and work of Bob Marley that looks into the surrounding political and historical events that shaped his development as an artist during the early years in Jamaica. The program follows the evolution of Marley’s music through his struggle to break into the music business to his later growth into stardom with Island Records, when he developed his distinctive form of reggae music with its message that reverberated the world over. It features footage of Marley, some of which has never been seen before, including home movies shot in Jamaica, early studio performances, in-depth interviews and newly discovered, dynamic concert footage.
