Oscar Niemeyer
A film about a free man who believes in the power of the imagination. This is the personal account of an artist who believes in the socialist ideal. It's a film about the most prolific architect of the 20th century, the story of a man who loved women. It's a film about the creator of Brasilia, it's a film about Brazil. On April 21, 2000, Brazil commemorated the 500th anniversary of its discovery and the 40th anniversary of the founding of Brasilia. Today, at 92, Niemeyer reminisces about a life devoted to architecture, speaks of freedom, friendship, sensuality and nostalgia. He speaks of Brazil and his exile in France during the dictatorship. He speaks of Le Corbusier, Kubitschek, Castro, Malraux. He tells us of an architect's dream and a century's hopes.
