Mourir en France
On August 19, 1942, seven regiments making up the elite of the Canadian army were decimated by the enemy in less than nine hours on the beaches of Dieppe, in Normandy. This was to be the most important Allied military operation against the Germans, since the beginning of World War II. It turned out to be Canada's worst defeat in the war. And the most humiliating. 3,000 of the 5,000 Canadian soldiers were either killed or taken prisoner. Mourir en France recreates this day from the vantage point of the first French Canadian regiment to fight in the war.
