Min mamma hade fjorton barnMy Mother Had Fourteen Children
This is an autobiography by the director about his childhood in Stockholm's largest family during a time when child allowance was not yet invented. At the same time, it is a portrait of the woman who gave birth to all these children. "Every family has its secrets", the director says. "For a long period I was very reluctant to unmask a childhood I hardly remembered. The only thing I have carried with me through life is an untouched box of photos, which by its sheer existence has been a summon to the filmmaker within me to get on with it, and to the child within me to try to understand."
