Mexico, à la vie comme à la mort

Mexico, to Life and Death

Every year, sixty thousand people die in Mexico City. They die of all sorts of causes : natural causes like old age, and accidental causes like traffic and other accidents. But mostly, they die of criminal causes : day in and day out, twenty people are killed in this city. With more than 25 million people, Mexico City is one of the biggest cities in the world, if not the biggest ! People who live in Mexico City are called chilangos and, as we see in this documentary, they have a very peculiar relationship with death : they bear it, respect it, fear it, defy it and even celebrate it. Meet Roco, lead singer of one of Mexico's most popular rock bands. He takes us on a tour of Mexico, where we come across an ambulance driver for the Red Cross, a doctor of the Mexico City morgue and a former street kid who has turned his life into an incredible success story...
