Mes yeux d'AlgérieMy Algeria's Eyes
For the past decade, the Algerian tragedy has ceaselessly overwhelmed us with images of horror and injustice. The deliberately maintained confusion as to the identification or non-identification of the culprits has contributed to the strange impression of an indestructible wall of silence. In defiance of the risks it supposes, the director filmed in total illegality using a digital camera and camera-glasses. She filmed this Algerian people who had become inaccessible to the international media. But these travel notes reveal another face of Algeria, a reality in which Islamic fundamentalism is no longer in question but rather an Algerian state whose police and military systems have flouted international regulations on the respect of human rights.
