International Festival of Audiovisual Programs

Merce Cunningham

In a series of exclusive interviews, Merce Cunningham reviews his career as dancer and choreographer : his influential meeting with Martha Graham in the 40s, his encounter with Dada and Marcel Duchamp, his long collaboration with John Cage, and his research on software programs on dance… The filmed archives on his shows, enriched with anecdotes, provide an extraordinarily rich panorama of his work. Interviews with his close collaborators (dancers, choreographers, musicians, painters, composers), the comments of his students reflect Cunningham’s immense talent. This intimate confrontation produces a portrait of one of the great figures of modern dance.
