Les Résistants de l'ombre
A few weeks after the NATO bombings of May 1999, spontaneous protests broke out throughout Serbia. These protests soon became veritable uprisings. None of the leaders of these resistance movements belongs to political organizations. Anonymous and ordinary people have overcome their fear and fight, despite their oppression, against the dictatorship of Slobodan Milosevic. Shot secretly at the height of the repression, this latest documentary by Yugoslav filmmaker Goran Markovic has become a cult film among the opposition. The independent Serbian channel Free B 92 and the Otpor ("Resistance") student movement were declared terrorist organizations by Slobodan Milosevic. Despite this, they continued their actions and circulated video cassettes throughout Serbia, during the preparations for the September 2000 elections. Hundreds of people thronged to illegal screenings and identified with these heroes.
