Shaberdi Baltaev is a well known bard of Uzbekistan. The proud descendant of Tamerlan's tribe, the great conqueror who founded Samarkand. Shaberdi sings the epic of the legendary hero Alpamish and, thus, preserves a millenary tradition of Central Asia. In portraying him, the film introduces us to this little known culture and to a people happy to rediscover its roots and heritage, through its performing artists.
