Le Rêve de SisypheSisyphus' Dream
For the past seven years, Algerian filmmaker Faouzia Fekiri has been seeking the ins and the outs of a war that dare not speak its name. Since the election of President Bouteflika in April 1999, she has lived in and shared the hopes of peace of a village in the region of Chlef, southwest of Algiers. Returning there a year later, she uses the gaze of nine years old Kamel - son of a terrorist - to show how, while blood continued to be shed, Algerians reacted to the return of those who for almost 10 years chose armed struggle. Algeria cannot decide between hate, forgiveness and forgetting.
