Le Jazz de William Cepeda
The main actor and guide of this film is William Cepeda, one of the world’s most powerful trombonists. Called first by Dizzy Gillespie to join the United Nation Orchestra, he settled in New York, and created his own musical flavor, a fusion of authentic traditional Portorican music and the most "avant-garde" jazz, highlighting the strong rhythm of the Bomba which originated in Africa. To follow his footsteps gives an opportunity to deeply delve into Portorican culture. We meet and enjoy characters at the crosspoint of multiple identities, both in his hometown, Loiza, or in the streets of New York. Through them, we discover true joyful, sometimes sad, yet always strong lively music.
