It is the end of an era. The end of a tradition older than Belgium. A wild animal is pursued until exhaustion and death, by the hounds which are themselves pursued by riders without weapon. This practice is called deer hunting. From now on, hunting belongs to the past. A decree forbids hunting by July 1, 2000. In Belgium, only a handful of people still ride to hounds. These noble out-and-out families flay the city dwellers ignorance and defend a certain conception of rurality. They intend to satisfy their passion to the bitter end, but the hunting season ends with winter. The Hunting is Over follows them in the Ardennes forests, for the last hunting of the kingdom's history.
