From the day UN peacekeeping forces entered Kosovo to the first anniversary of this event celebrated in the streets of Pristina, Kosovo, the Year After is a chronicle of daily life after the war. Eschewing the military, the politicians, the non-governmental organizations, it focuses on simple Albanian Kosovars. A barber from the Turkish-speaking village of Vushttri, an electrician whose family was massacred, a village schoolteacher, a septuagenarian peasant, a neuro-psychiatrist from Pristina - these are the film's anonymous heroes. As the seasons pass, they are the actors in and witnesses to the reconstruction of souls, bodies and things.
