This film is about little-known facts in the history of World War II, events which took place in eastern Prussia liberated by the Red Army. This is the story of four innocent young girls who had been raped by Soviet soldiers and who barely escaped death only to undergo the harsh ordeals of the Stalinist camps. The horror and absurdity of the wars which breed only suffering - this is the film's theme. The brutality - that is the word to describe the behavior of men with guns. War turns a human being into a two-legged animal. To win, one must kill. And man can overcome all the consequences of war and be happy. But it is impossible to erase all that from his memory.
