Jan Lebenstein
Jan Lebenstein's international career began in Paris. Winner of the Grand Prix de la Ville de Paris 1959, consecrated by a major exhibition at the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris in 1961, his paintings were subsequently acquired by the greatest museums in the world, such as the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris and the MoMA in New York. In 1959, his paintings were exhibited at two major museums, the Stedelijk in Amsterdam and the Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm, as well as in three major periodic retrospectives - the Documenta in Kassel and the Venice and Sao Paolo Biennales. It is unusual to see an utterly unknown painter triumph in such a way. This documentary is a sort of filmed journal about the painter's life... Jan Lebenstein died in Krakow on May 28, 1999.
