Georges Perec, un parmi eux
As in the Tales from Ellis Island, the camera pokes through places that are abandoned, empty, even forgotten. The entire film is set in spectral settings? A former factory ? A building from "Life, a User's Guide" ? Walled-up houses of the Rue Vilin ? For the film, Georges Perec's voice temporarily fills these lonely places. Occasional subtitles give the name of the works and their publication dates. A few pieces from the puzzle of Perec's work are thus evoked. The film attempts a sort of visual equivalent of some of the constraints that Perec used in his literary work. Shots are presented twice, once the right way, once the wrong way, but is there a "right way" or a "wrong way" ? A right direction ?
