Francisco Boix : un fotógrafo en el infierno
This documentary recounts the life of the Republican photographer Francisco Boix (Barcelona 1920 - Paris 1951). After the Spanish civil war, exile led him - along with another 7,000 Spaniards - to the concentration camp of Mathausen. Once there, he was sent to the photographic laboratory, from which he surreptitiously removed over 2,000 photographs, in a resistance operation unique in the history of Nazi repression. After liberation, Boix took some of these photos to the Nuremberg Trial, as incriminating evidence against important members of the 3rd Reich's military leadership. The documentary is based on the testimony of Boix's relatives, friends and comrades, the photographs stolen from Mathausen, photos of his private and professional life, and international archive footage.
