FiingvallavatnThingvallavatn
Thingvellir is a remarkable, unique place in Iceland. To Icelanders, it's sacred because of its fascinating history - this was the site of their Parliament, one of the oldest in the West. But extensive scientific research has shown that the region of Thingvellir is one of the wonders of the world and is indeed unique : the American plate and the European plate separate exactly at Thingvellir, so the area and Lake Thingvallavatn are positioned between two continents. Lake Thingvallavatn is a very young lake - no more than 10,000 years old. It is extremely clear, which makes underwater photography of the Arctic char in their natural habitat very vivid. Last but not least, the film provides some insights into the life of the few people living by the lake.
