In two parts, this TV movie examines for the first time previously classified documents and combines memorable documentary images with authentic re-enactments of decisive moments. Part 1 : On to the streets ! The film reconstructs in detail the exciting events leading up to the fall of the Berlin Wall between October 6 and November 9, 1989. It tells the story as seen by the key figures and statesmen involved. Part 2 : Fatherland - Quickly ! The film covers the period November 10, 1989 to October 3, 1990. It reconstructs the conflicts, discussions and intrigues taking place after the fall of the Wall at top diplomatic levels.
