Det Nya Landet

A four-part road movie about the wild Swedish escapade of two refugees threatened with expulsion. Ali, a young Somalian, and Massoud, a middle-aged Iranian, meet in a refugee center. One day, they are witness to other refugees being harshly escorted to the frontier and decide to take their destiny in hand. Despite the imminent threat of expulsion, they set out together and drive across midsummer Sweden. Along the way, they meet Louise, an ex-Miss Sweden, who is also disillusioned and wants to start a new life. The New Country is not a thesis film about immigration but a comical tale of loners and outsiders.
