Aaron Copland
Aaron Copland is a performance documentary which celebrates the music of Aaron Copland, the composer who best expressed "the deepest reactions of the American consciousness to the American scene". The program is a feast of music performance and dance, scenes of American life in the 20th century and excerpts from his historic landmark ballets with Agnes de Mille and Martha Graham, intercut with reflexions by the choreographers, composers and the man called the "dean of American composers" himself : Aaron Copland. Along with these historic performances, many conducted by the composer himself, are especially created segments with such artists as baritone Thomas Hampson, clarinettist Richard Stoltzman and the EOS Orchestra conducted by Jonathan Sheffer.
