Pascal Comelade
Here is a film that forced its subject — Pascal Comelade, off-beat music master and seasoned mountaineer — to indulge in what he loathes most: the shamelessness of speech. This is a film about secrets and intimacy. And so we enter the world of a demanding aesthete who prefers anchovies to Hector Berlioz, and painter Gaston Chaissac to sports cars. Filmed at his home at the foot of the Catalonian Canigou Mountains, Comelade is surrounded by numerous musical celebrities: General Alcazar, Pierre Bastien, and the famous triangle player Enric Casasses of the Bel Canto Orquestra. "My musical universe? A great, big mess of things. A blend of horrible things and very specialized things. I can cope with them perfectly and identify with both." Pascal Comelade
