The life and works of novelist Norman Mailer shape this 3-part series on the political, social and cultural life of the United States since the end of the Second World War. For the first time, Mr Mailer participates in a documentary about his vision of America. Moving back and forth between past and present, from historical documents to people and places today, the series reflects the tensions between reality and fiction so characteristic of Mailer's work.
