Everybody in China today refers to Lu Xun, the leading thinker in China, but he has always been an independant fighter for all that would build the new Chinese society and has never, until his death in 1936, bowed to any political dictat. This film depicts the life of Lu Xun, "the Soul of Nation", but also shows the history of China in order to make his life of fiction and essays understandable.
