Les DépossédésThe Dispossessed
People, according to George Orwell, are as kind as they can afford to be. Not so, according to this documentary which follows the fortunes of Françoise, Jean-Paul and Bettina as they battle to assist those even worse off than themselves. As we witness their daily struggle to combat poverty, the film lays bare the hopes, the suffering and the strength of three very different individuals, who are fighting both to help others, and to hold their own in an indifferent society. The experience is humbling.
