Le Défi des Tembé
The 300,000 Indians remaining in the Amazon continue to endure the pressures of Western civilization. Some 370 miles from Belem, the Tembé community strives to preserve its living culture. Chico, a civil servant in charge of the Funaï Institution, brings his support to the Indians and tries to protect them against the woodcutters. The film records the life of this community and the full extent of their plight: with unchecked deforestation, it is also an entire people that is dying out.
