Peerless player of the oboe and the "uçtelli", a small three-string lute, old Hayri Dev lives in the small village of Tasavlu. One morning, he decides to pay a visit to his childhood friend, Mehmet Sakir Akkulak, a crusty shepherd and fiery violinist, who lives on the other side of the Çameli mountains - a day's travel. Hayri finds Mehmet in the pastures, and convinces him to come back with him to Tasavlu for a "yarenlik", a traditional celebration that combines the intoxications of dance and an inexhaustible music energy. The spirit of childhood transfigures these elderly men, suddenly seized by a supreme sense of freedom... This film is also a feature film under the title Behind the Forest.
