La Spazzola di DevandraDevandra’s Brush
Devandra’s Brush is the story of the slave-like living conditions of countless children in the largest slum in Bombay, Dharavi. They are slaves of poverty, of an economic system which considers it normal to work 12 to 14 hours a day (seven days a week) to earn a bowl of rice and the right to sleep in the attic where these same children sew and glue together luxury products with designers labels known throughout the world. They are slaves of the railway stations, where they arrive from their villages in the hope of making a future for themselves. The film tells the story of Devandra, who, realising that he has failed as an emigrant, attempts to return to his village.
